The City of Negaunee, population 4,576, is about ten miles from Marquette, home of Northern Michigan University. The city takes up 13.8 square miles in Marquette County in the Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The town was founded in 1865 and incorporated as a city in 1873, largely due to the thriving iron ore mining industry in the area.

Negaunee is known for its quality
school systems, Michigan Iron Industry Museum, historical society, one-of-a-kind natural luge hill, international ski jumping competitions at Suicide Bowl and, of course, the Negaunee Invitational Basketball Tournament, the largest of its kind in the Midwest.

Negaunee has one motel, located on US-41, The Quartz Mountain Inn and other unique historical lodging downtown at the Iron Street Loft or Union Station.
